Exiled Tibetans Prepare for 'Unique Polls'; Dalai Lama May Vote in South India

Tibetan diaspora is set to vote in the first phase of general elections for the Sikyong and Parliament on February 1. Chief Election Commissioner Lobsang Yeshi termed the process "unique," as it spans 27 countries and focuses on leading the Tibetan freedom struggle. Over 91,000 voters have registered for the polls, supported by 309 polling booths globally. Officials indicated that His Holiness the Dalai Lama, currently in South India, is likely to participate, with special voting arrangements being prepared. This preliminary round will determine candidates for the final election scheduled for April 26.
