Dharamshala Honors Linguistic Heritage on Tibetan Calligraphy Day

Dharamshala recently celebrated International Tibetan Calligraphy Day to honor and preserve the region's rich linguistic heritage. The Tibet Museum and Palpung Sherabling Monastery cohosted the inaugural event, which featured historical exhibitions and expert talks on the evolution of the Tibetan script. The April 30 date holds special significance, symbolizing the Tibetan alphabet's four vowels and thirty consonants. Attendees explored ancient manuscripts, reproduction works from the 18th century, and modern typography developments. The event highlights ongoing efforts by the Central Tibetan Administration to safeguard cultural traditions while adapting ancient writing systems for the modern digital era.
