Dalai Lama Delays Return to Dharamshala Due to Heavy Rain

His Holiness the Dalai Lama has postponed his return to Dharamshala after monsoon rains disrupted travel in Ladakh, IANS reported Aug. 26. His Holiness was scheduled to leave Leh on June 26 after a six-week stay, but will now depart two days later, officials said. In a letter to Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council chairman Tashi Gyalson, he thanked the people for their warm hospitality. Dalai Lama will next attend a Long-Life Offering Ceremony in Dharamshala on Sept. 10, followed by prayers on Sept. 20 and teachings on Oct. 3.
