Dalai Lama Arrives in Zanskar and Inaugurate Mega Summer Symposium

On July 21, 2025, His Holiness the Dalai Lama successfully flew by helicopter to Padum, Zanskar, after two days of weather delays. Thousands of people in traditional dress lined roads to welcome him to the new Karsha Phodrang palace. His Holiness inaugurated the KarGön Mega Summer Symposium, a major Buddhist debate gathering involving monasteries, nunneries, and 27 schools from the Himalayan region. During his address, the Dalai Lama emphasized logic and reasoning in Buddhist study, contrasting it with Chinese Communist restrictions on Tibetan religious traditions. Schoolchildren demonstrated debating skills on altruism and Buddhist philosophy.
