Representative Thinlay Chukki of the Tibet Bureau in Geneva, joined by Professor Michael van Walt van Praag and UN Advocacy Officer Phuntsok Tobgyal, met Czech lawmakers in Prague on April 29 to seek continued support for Tibet. Senator Jitka Seitlová and other Czech officials expressed unwavering backing for the Tibetan cause. As His Holiness the Dalai Lama nears his 90th birthday, concerns were raised about likely restrictions inside Tibet. Professor van Walt urged recognition of Tibet’s political status. The delegation also discussed future initiatives with Czech senators and the Forum 2000 Foundation.
