Members of Students for a Free Tibet’s Itanagar chapter held a candlelight vigil at Thuptan Gatsal-ling Monastery on July 13 to honor Tibetan independence activist Lobga Rangzen. The gathering followed his self-immolation outside the United Nations Headquarters in New York on July 2, coinciding with the implementation of China’s Ethnic Unity Law. Participants lit candles, offered prayers and reaffirmed support for the Tibetan cause. The organizers called for continued international solidarity and urged world leaders to support a peaceful and just resolution to the Tibet issue. The vigil ended with a message of peace.
