Australian Council Raises Tibetan Flag for First Time on Uprising Day

For the first time, the Maribyrnong City Council in Victoria, Australia, hoisted the Tibetan flag on March 10, 2025, to mark Tibetan National Uprising Day. The event was attended by former Australian MP Janet Rice, ex-council member Simon Crawford, and Tibetan community leaders. Chodak, Vice President of the Victorian Tibetan Community Association, told Radio Free Asia that this historic event was made possible through efforts by Tibetan advocacy groups. Later, activists protested outside the Chinese Embassy, condemning China’s policies and demanding Tibetan freedom.
