The Tibetan Election Commission has announced that 91,042 Tibetans have successfully registered for the upcoming 2026 general elections. Of this total, 56,749 voters reside in India, Nepal, and Bhutan, while 34,293 are registered across the global diaspora. Alongside the final voter count, the Commission released supplementary guidelines to ensure a transparent electoral process. Crucially, the EC also declared a five-year ban on candidate Tashi Topgyal for serious rule violations, including the unauthorized use of national symbols. These measures aim to uphold the integrity of the exile government’s democratic transition and encourage disciplined civic participation worldwide.
