Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy (TCHRD) is calling on Chinese authorities to reveal the location and condition of four Tibetans detained in early September in Ngaba, Sichuan. The detained include Kirti Monastery monks Lobsang Samten and Lobsang Trinley, along with Tsering Tashi and Wangkyi from Ngaba County. Reports suggest escalating repression in Ngaba, with increased restrictions on Tibetan cultural institutions and secret detentions targeting those with overseas contacts. This follows China’s closure of two Buddhist schools in July, forcing thousands of novice monks into state-run schools as part of an assimilation campaign.
