Tawang celebrated the 35th anniversary of His Holiness the Dalai Lama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize in 1989 for his non-violent efforts for Tibetan liberation. Held at Tawang Monastery's chamleng, the event featured traditional dances and a ceremonial procession. Tawang ZPC Leki Gombu praised the Dalai Lama's peaceful approach to Tibet’s occupation by China. DoKA Affairs Chairman Jambey Wangdi described the Dalai Lama as an “apostle of peace” and a symbol of compassion. The day honored his lifelong advocacy for world peace and non-violence, with prayers for his longevity underscoring his significance to global harmony.
