India and China held the 31st meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation & Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) in Beijing on August 29, 2024. According to India's Ministry of External Affairs, the discussions were "frank and constructive," focusing on narrowing differences along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and finding an early resolution to ongoing issues. Both sides agreed to intensify contact through diplomatic and military channels. India emphasized that respect for the LAC is crucial for restoring normal bilateral relations.
