Delek Hospital in Dharamshala, in collaboration with Japan’s Association for Ophthalmic Cooperation in Asia (AOCA), conducted its 22nd free cataract surgery camp from December 24-26. According to Tibet Express, 234 patients, including locals and Tibetans, were screened, with 30 undergoing surgery. This initiative, started in 2000, has provided 6,824 screenings and 1,269 surgeries to date. Rotary International aids in local outreach, attracting mostly Indian patients. The camp resumed in 2023 after a COVID-19 hiatus and celebrates its 25th anniversary with a special audience for AOCA experts with His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
