China’s planned mega hydropower project on the Brahmaputra River, near India’s Arunachal Pradesh, is a significant environmental threat. Dechen Palmo, a researcher from the Tibet Policy Institute, highlighted that the 60-gigawatt dam, in a seismically active zone, could harm Tibet and downstream countries like India and Bangladesh. Tapir Gao, an MP from Arunachal Pradesh, described the project as a "water bomb," warning that sudden water releases could cause devastation in the region, including in Bangladesh.
