US Embassy Staff Visit Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, Discuss Tibetan Democracy

Deputy Speaker Dolma Tsering Teykhang of the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile met with US Embassy staff in Delhi on October 8, 2024. According to Tibet.net, the Deputy Speaker outlined the history of Tibetan democracy, noting milestones like women’s representation in 1964 and His Holiness the Dalai Lama's 2011 devolution of political power. She expressed gratitude for US support of Tibet and condemned China's policies undermining Tibetan culture and identity, including forced assimilation. The meeting also addressed environmental concerns about China’s control over Tibet’s water resources.
