The International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) has highlighted a joint letter from UN Special Rapporteurs to China, expressing concern over the detention of Tibetan environmental activist Tsongon Tsering. Tsering was sentenced to 16 months in prison after protesting illegal sand mining in Sichuan’s Ngaba Prefecture. The letter questions the legality of his arrest and trial and seeks details on his detention and mining activities in Tsaruma village. ICT urges China to respond transparently and calls for Tsering’s immediate release and protection of Tibetan human rights.
