UN human rights experts have called on China to provide information about nine missing Tibetans, including five monks detained in 2022 in Serthar County, one of whom reportedly died after severe torture. The International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) welcomed the statement, signed by six UN special rapporteurs and three working groups. The experts highlighted forced disappearances and arbitrary detention, urging China to address broader human rights abuses, including those against Uyghur activist Ilham Tohti, detained for 11 years. ICT emphasized the importance of international attention on China’s violations and urged stronger global responses to the authoritarian regime.
