UK All-Party Parliamentary Group on Tibet condemned China’s Ethnic Unity and Progress Law, calling it an instrument of forced assimilation ahead of its July 1, 2026 implementation. In a June 30 statement signed by APPG Chair Chris Law MP, the group said the law threatens Tibetans, Uyghurs, Southern Mongolians, and other ethnic nationalities through Mandarin education, surveillance, demographic engineering, and ideological control. The APPG also warned that Article 63 could enable Chinese authorities to target individuals and organizations overseas, including Tibetans, human rights defenders, researchers, and parliamentarians in the United Kingdom.
