The Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile‘s 6th session of the 17th general meeting, which was originally scheduled to reconvene from December 25 to 29, 2023, has now been postponed to March 13 to 16, 2024. This postponement is due to the absence of a sufficient number of Parliament members to form the necessary quorum, as reported by Tibet.net, the official website of the Central Tibetan Administration.

The postponement stems from the fact that 16 Parliamentarians have taken a leave of absence, preventing the assembly from meeting the required quorum for an official session. This is in accordance with Article 49, clause (II) of the Charter of Tibetans in Exile, which states that if a meeting of the Tibetan Parliament must be adjourned for more than seven days due to a lack of quorum, the Speaker and the Deputy Speaker are authorized to decide on the adjournment.

Members of the 17th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile have been informed about this development. They are requested to register their attendance at the Parliamentary Secretariat on March 12, 2024, a day before the rescheduled session begins.

The Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile is a crucial part of the Tibetan government-in-exile, representing the Tibetan diaspora and working to preserve Tibetan culture and advocate for the rights and welfare of Tibetans worldwide.
