A five-day workshop, "Strengthening Democracy at the Grass-Root Level," organized by the Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile, started in Hunsur, Karnataka on July 29, 2024. Led by parliamentarians Youdon Aukatsang and Khenpo Jamphal Tenzin, the workshop hosts members of local Tibetan assemblies, settlement officers, and representatives from various Tibetan settlements. The opening ceremony included the Tibetan national anthem, a minute of silence for Tibetan martyrs, and speeches emphasizing democratic procedures and local administration. Supported by USAID, NDI, and SARD, this workshop aims to fortify grassroots democracy among Tibetans in exile.
