Tibet Groups Urge Miliband to Address Climate Justice in Tibet

Ahead of UK Minister Ed Miliband’s visit to Beijing, Tibet advocacy groups have urged him to address Tibet’s environmental and human rights issues in discussions on green energy cooperation. Organizations, including Free Tibet, warned that China’s megadevelopment projects, such as the Medog hydropower station, are causing mass displacement and cultural destruction. Recent protests against hydropower dams have led to arrests and international concern. The groups called on Miliband to reject partnerships with Chinese firms linked to such projects and support a moratorium on environmentally harmful developments in Tibet.
