Thousands Protest China’s Planned ‘Mega-Embassy’ in London

According to Radio Free Asia, around 4,000 protesters from Tibetan, Uyghur, Chinese, and Hong Kong rights groups rallied in London against China’s proposed ‘mega-embassy’ at the historic Royal Mint Court. They fear Beijing will use the site to monitor dissidents. The facility, China’s largest planned embassy, would include cultural centers and 225 apartments. Protesters carried placards urging the UK to reject the project. The demonstration saw minor clashes with police, leading to two arrests. The protest comes ahead of a key inquiry session on the embassy’s future. No counter-protests from Chinese nationalists were reported.
