A one-day training program for farmers from Bylakuppe and Hunsur was conducted on January 2, 2024, in Mysore, as reported by Tibet.net. The Organic Research and Training Centre (ORTC), a unit of CTRC under the Department of Home, CTA, in collaboration with the District Agriculture Training Centre (DATC) in Nagahalli, Mysore, organized this educational event, which saw the participation of 54 farmers, including 29 males and 25 females.

The training focused on Integrated Crop, Nutrition, and Pest Management, specifically for citrus crops like lemon, mandarin, orange, and exotic species. The session was held at ORTC and began with a welcome address by its Director, Tsering Dorjee, and an introductory talk by Dr. Yogesh G.H., the Deputy Director of Agriculture at DATC, Nagahanalli.

Experts in various fields of agriculture shared their knowledge during the program. Dr. Muralidhara, a fruit scientist, spoke about the genetic diversity in citrus fruit crops. Production technology was covered by Dr. Nayan Deepak G., another fruit scientist. Nutritional management was the topic of discussion by Dr. Rajendiran S., a soil scientist, while Dr. Rani A.T., an entomologist, talked about integrated pest and disease management. Additionally, Dr. Rahul Das shared insights on integrated nutrient management.

The training also included practical field sessions where farmers and experts could engage in hands-on learning. These sessions covered methods to prevent insect pests, identifying suitable chemicals for different citrus plant diseases, and proper care and pruning techniques for citrus plants. This hands-on experience facilitated a meaningful exchange of knowledge between the farmers and the experts.

Overall, the training provided a fruitful learning experience for the farmers, enhancing their skills in various aspects of citrus crop management. This initiative, as noted by Tibet.net, is part of ongoing efforts to improve agricultural practices and knowledge among farmers in the region.
