Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Bihar‘s Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister, met with His Holiness the Dalai Lama at the monastery in Bodh Gaya, as reported by TOI. During his visit, Tejashwi offered prayers at the Mahabodhi Mahavihara and discussed plans to enhance the experience for tourists and devotees in the area.

Acknowledging the growing number of visitors, Tejashwi announced plans to upgrade meditation and seating facilities at the Mahavihara. He also conducted a site inspection for a proposed bridge to connect Mahavihara with Jai Prakash Udyan, aiming to facilitate easier access for visitors.

Tejashwi, who also oversees state tourism, held meetings with tour operators and hoteliers in Bodh Gaya. He emphasized the new tourism policy approved by the Bihar cabinet, which focuses on improving facilities across the state, including in Gaya, Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, Vaishali, and Patna. “Under the new tourism policy approved by the Bihar cabinet, facilities are being improved across the state including Gaya, Bodh Gaya, Rajgir, Vaishali and Patna,” Tejashwi stated.

He encouraged business leaders to invest in the tourism sector, highlighting the benefits offered under the new policy. “For hotel construction and also to build theme restaurants and parks, meditation centres and golf course, up to Rs 25 crore will be spent,” he said, as per TOI‘s report.

The tourism department’s plan includes making cities activity centers by combining markets, malls, hotels, and restaurants. This strategy aims to enhance the tourist experience, encouraging longer stays and positive impressions. Tejashwi noted the progress in Bodh Gaya with two five-star hotels already established and three more upcoming in Patna.
