The Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch (BTSM) marked its 25th anniversary with a grand celebration at the Constitution Club of India, showcasing the enduring partnership and mutual support between the Tibetan and Indian communities.
The silver jubilee event drew a crowd of approximately 200 attendees, including prominent figures from the Tibetan government-in-exile and Indian officials. This significant gathering highlighted the solidarity and shared objectives towards the Tibetan cause.
Kalon Dolma Gyari, from the Central Tibetan Administration’s Department of Security, delivered a compelling address. As Tibet.net reported, she eloquently traced the historical ties between India and Tibet, citing the ancient lineage of the Yarlung Dynasty and the profound connections through Buddhism, which remains a cornerstone of Tibetan culture. Dolma Gyari’s speech emphasized the linguistic ties with Sanskrit, reinforcing the deep-rooted cultural and spiritual bonds between the two regions.
In her poignant statement, Kalon Gyari declared, “Arunachal is very much a part of the Republic of India,” directly challenging China’s territorial claims and recent renaming of locations in Arunachal Pradesh. She expressed gratitude towards India for providing asylum to Tibetans and enabling the establishment of their government-in-exile, appealing for a stronger stance from the Indian government on the Tibet–China conflict.

Other notable speakers included Shri Sardar S.S. Sandhu, ADG of CRPF, who revisited the historical Dogra-Tibetan conflict to assert the absence of historical borders between India and China before Tibet’s occupation. Shri Dr. Indresh Kumar, the patron of BTSM, highlighted the multi-decade relationship between the regions, spanning cultural, historical, and intellectual exchanges, and promised to elevate the Tibetan issue to the United Nations.
The event also served as a platform to honor steadfast supporters of the Tibetan cause, with felicitations that underscored the collaborative spirit of the gathering. The India Tibet Coordination Office distributed Tibet-related literature, engaging a notably younger audience and fostering a new generation of advocates.
The 25th-anniversary celebration of the Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch not only commemorated a milestone but also reinforced the vital alliances between the Indian and Tibetan communities.
