At the 6th International Religious Freedom or Belief Alliance Ministerial Conference in Berlin, Kai Mueller, Executive Director of the International Campaign for Tibet (ICT) Germany, highlighted China's extensive surveillance in Tibet, especially in monasteries. He described how the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) uses both human and technological methods, including CCTV, facial recognition, and invasive apps, to control Tibetan Buddhism. These tactics disrupt monastic life, undermine religious freedom, and further the CCP’s goal of "Sinicization." The conference focused on artificial intelligence’s impact on religious freedom, with participants from Germany and the U.S. delivering remarks.
