Brussels, Belgium – The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), as part of its initiative to bolster Tibetan communities, has recently embarked on a month-long Chatrel awareness drive across Europe. The campaign, as reported by Tibet.net, aimed to enhance knowledge and participation in the Chatrel system, which stands as a voluntary contribution system for Tibetans globally.

Leading the campaign for Europe were Yangchen Dolkar and Choekyi Dolma. They traveled to multiple countries, starting with a three-day stint in the Netherlands from 19 September. “The objective,” Dolkar explained, as cited by Tibet.net, “is to simplify the process of making a new chatrel book, handle corrections, and address concerns about loss and theft.”

The efforts in the Netherlands resulted in the enrollment of 90 new chatrel users. This initiative was smoothly executed with the support of the Belgium Office of Tibet and the local Tibetan Association. Following the Netherlands, the campaign duo made their way to Belgium from 22-29 September. Belgium observed a special “chatrel day” during this period, with a significant turnout from the Tibetan community. “We want to emphasize the importance of making timely chatrel contributions and adhering to the set guidelines,” Dolma stressed during one of the campaign’s sessions, as mentioned in Tibet.net.

France saw the most enthusiastic response, recording the highest chatrel enrolments. The campaign, which ran from 30 September to 17 October, was coordinated by Thupten Tsering of Bureau du Tibet – Paris. Tsering, along with his team of volunteers, worked closely with the CTA representatives to facilitate the campaign.

All in all, the 28-day drive led to a whopping 1200 chatrel enrolments and related corrections across the jurisdictions covered by the Office of Tibet-Brussels, a noteworthy achievement for the CTA.

Upon concluding their successful campaign in France, the CTA delegation is now gearing up for their next leg in England.
