China launched a three-month internet crackdown under the Central Cyberspace Affairs Commission’s “Qinglang” campaign, which began on June 18, 2026. The campaign targets account-name impersonation, identity disguise, prohibited information, and black or gray market activity. The International Campaign for Tibet said the drive is framed as action against scams and misinformation but could further restrict Tibetan expression online. ICT said Tibetan-language content, religious references, images or teachings of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and discussions on education or the environment have already faced censorship, account suspensions, or arrests under China’s digital control system.
