On July 10, 2024, the Office of Tibet, Canberra, and the Chinese Alliance for Democracy held a seminar at Sydney University titled “Sino-Tibet Relations in the Post Xi Jinping Era.” The event featured researchers, activists, and experts discussing Xi Jinping’s impact on Sino-Tibetan relations and the ongoing cultural challenges in Tibet. Representative Karma Singey highlighted the urgency of the situation, emphasizing the Chinese government's repressive policies. Dr. Gyalo discussed the forced assimilation of Tibetans, particularly through mandatory boarding schools. Bawa Kalsang Gyaltsen reaffirmed the Central Tibetan Administration's commitment to the Middle Way Policy. Prof. Feng Chongyi spoke on the necessity of democratic governance in China for self-determination. The seminar concluded with closing remarks from Dawa Sangmo.
