Thubten Yeshi, a former political prisoner and Tibetan patriot, passed away on September 28, 2024, in Lhasa. Born in 1950 in Gyama Dhashar, he worked as a farmer before being imprisoned in 1992 for raising the Tibetan flag and chanting pro-independence slogans during the Socialist Education Campaign. Sentenced to 15 years in Drapchi Prison, he was released in 2007. The Central Tibetan Administration expressed condolences to his family and prayed for his rebirth in higher realms.
