Dalai Lama Visits Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in South India

On January 6, 2025, His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in Bylakuppe, South India, after leaving Dharamsala and stopping in New Delhi and Bengaluru. Warmly welcomed by Tibetan officials, monks, and laypeople, His Holiness received a ceremonial greeting marked by music, dances, and auspicious symbols. In his address, he emphasized the monastery’s role as a center of learning, blending logic and reason in Buddhist teachings. Reflecting on global interest in Buddhism, he urged monks to preserve the tradition. The visit highlighted the Dalai Lama’s connection to Tashi Lhunpo, founded by the First Dalai Lama.
