A Beijing-affiliated hacking group, Daggerfly, has targeted organizations in Taiwan and a U.S. NGO in China using upgraded malware tools. Symantec reported that Daggerfly exploited an Apache HTTP server vulnerability to deploy MgBot malware. The group, active since 2012, is known for quickly updating its toolset. The attacks also used a new version of the macOS malware MACMA and a new malware called Nightdoor, which targets Tibetan users. Daggerfly's activities highlight its capability to target multiple operating systems, including Android and Solaris. China's CVERC denies accusations against its espionage groups, labeling them as U.S. misinformation.
