According to a report by NY Times and Tibetan review, China is expanding its territorial and political influence along the Nepal-Tibet border, notably in Humla, a northern village in Nepal's Karnali province. Chinese forces have built fences and settlements, encroaching on Nepalese land. Beyond territorial claims, China is pressuring ethnic Tibetan Nepalis to reject the Dalai Lama and adopt Chinese views on Buddhism. China has also been pushing for an extradition treaty with Nepal, which could endanger Tibetan refugees in the region. This is part of a broader strategy to assert control in disputed border areas.
