Chinese authorities arrested Asang, a young Tibetan singer from Ngawa, over two weeks ago for performing "The Prince of Peace," a song dedicated to the Dalai Lama. According to reliable sources to Tibet Times, the arrest occurred during heightened restrictions surrounding the Dalai Lama's 90th birthday celebrations. Asang and his friend performed a cover version of the song, which led to his detention. His current whereabouts remain unknown, causing great distress to his family. Chinese authorities had previously monitored Asang due to his songs promoting Tibetan unity and culture. Earlier this year, he gained attention for appearing at Kirti Monastery with "Tibet" written on his forehead.
