US House China Panel Chair Backs Tibet Genocide Bill

US Rep. John Moolenaar, chair of the House Select Committee on China, cosponsored the Tibet Atrocities Determination Act on June 15, Tibetan Review reported on June 17, 2026. The bill, introduced earlier in the House on June 2 by Reps. Chris Smith and Tom Suozzi, would direct the Secretary of State to decide whether documented Chinese Communist Party abuses in Tibet amount to an ongoing genocide or crimes against humanity. Tibetan Review said the measure follows a bipartisan Senate companion resolution introduced on April 29 by Senators Rick Scott and Jeff Merkley.
