Tibetan Singer Asang Released After Seven Months; Colleague Remains Missing

Tibetan singer Asang has been released after nearly seven months of arbitrary detention by Chinese authorities. Asang was arrested last year alongside fellow musician Palchung for performing a song titled "The Prince of Peace" during the Dalai Lama's birthday celebrations. While Asang has returned home—immediately announcing the upcoming release of his new album, The Pace of Dreams—the whereabouts of Palchung remain unknown. The pair were targeted during a security crackdown in Ngawa County. Asang, known for his advocacy of Tibetan culture, thanked supporters in a video statement released with his wife.
