Sikyong Penpa Tsering, the Tibetan political leader, recently visited Riga, Latvia, where he engaged in a series of discussions and media interactions.

His visit, which started on Sunday afternoon, 28 January 2024, is part of a broader effort to raise awareness about Tibetan issues globally.

Upon arrival, Tsering and his delegation, including Representative Sonam Frasi, were warmly greeted by Janis Skuja, the chair of the Tibet Support Group (TSG) in Latvia, as reported by Tibet.net.

One of the highlights of Sikyong‘s visit was a public dialogue on ‘Law, Ethics, and Morality’ held at the Splendid Palace.

The event, hosted by Artur Smolyaninov, a well-known actor and Russian dissident living in Latvia, attracted a diverse audience.

Participants, including children, engaged in meaningful discussions on topics such as cultural heritage, language preservation, and the role of the Central Tibetan Administration and the Tibetan diaspora in the global arena.

The dialogue reflected the Latvian public’s interest in Tibet and its people, touching on subjects like international support for Tibet, its representation at the United Nations, and broader themes of power, altruism, and responsibility.

The day concluded with Sikyong‘s interview with Latvian media, further amplifying the Tibetan voice in the Baltic region.

Continuing his agenda, Sikyong Penpa Tsering is set to meet with media members and partake in additional meetings.

His visit also includes a Tibetan film screening and a Q&A session at the Riga City Council, offering a cultural exchange and insight into Tibetan life and struggles.

This visit underscores the ongoing efforts by the Tibetan leadership to engage with international communities and garner support for Tibet‘s cause, highlighting the importance of law, ethics, and morality in the global discourse surrounding Tibet and its fight for recognition and rights.
