Shillong Tibetans Celebrate Resolve Tibet Act Becoming US Law

The Tibetan community in Shillong celebrated the Resolve Tibet Act 2024's enactment into US law at Gadhen Choeling Monastery on July 18. President Biden signed the Act on July 12, receiving bipartisan support. Dignitaries, including Ven. Tenzin Thinley and Tibetan Settlement Officer Tenzin Samten, attended the event. The celebration featured national anthems, Tibetan sweet rice and butter tea, speeches, and traditional dances. The Resolve Tibet Act is seen as a significant step in the Tibetan freedom movement. A similar celebration occurred in Dimapur, led by local Tibetan leaders.
