Tibetan environmental activist Anyak Sengdra has been released after a seven-year prison sentence, but is reportedly suffering from severe health complications, including kidney disease and failing eyesight. Tibet Times reports that the 55-year-old’s condition has deteriorated significantly, with no confirmation regarding his access to medical care. Although he returned to Kyangche Township on February 7, Sengdra remains under strict state surveillance, and his family has been forbidden from sharing photographs. The activist was originally imprisoned for leading the grassroots group "Mangdon Leng," which exposed illegal mining and local government corruption.
