NEW DELHI – Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the necessity of swiftly addressing the ongoing border disputes with China, aiming to normalize the strained relations between the two nations, as reported by NDTV. In a recent interview with Newsweek magazine, Modi highlighted the global significance of stable India-China relations and expressed optimism for peace restoration through diplomatic and military engagement.

“For India, the relationship with China is important and significant. The Prime Minister’s comments come in the wake of escalating tensions following the 2020 clashes in the Galwan Valley, Ladakh, where a confrontation led to the loss of 20 Indian soldiers and an undisclosed number of Chinese casualties. These incidents have necessitated high-level diplomatic and military dialogues to de-escalate the situation.

Furthermore, Modi touched upon India-Pakistan relations, which have been tense since the 2019 Pulwama attack that resulted in the deaths of 40 Indian soldiers. The attack has been linked to terrorists operating from Pakistan. Modi expressed his vision for a peaceful, terror-free region, marking his communication with Pakistan’s Prime Minister as a step towards advancing peace and security.

“I have congratulated the Prime Minister of Pakistan on taking office. India advocates for peace, security, and prosperity in our region, in an atmosphere free from terror and violence,” he added, signaling a willingness to engage in constructive dialogue for the betterment of regional stability.

Prime Minister Modi’s remarks to Newsweek underscore India‘s commitment to resolving its border disputes through peaceful means, emphasizing the importance of diplomatic efforts to ensure regional and global stability.
