Chinese authorities in Ngaba have intensified measures against Tibetan monastic education, forcibly transferring young monks from Taktsang Lhamo Monastic School to state-run schools, according to the International Campaign for Tibet. Since July 2024, under directives from a regional education conference, monastic schools face closures as part of a broader policy to integrate Tibetan students into Chinese cultural norms. The crackdown has led to detentions and reported suicide attempts among monks, with concerns mounting over the loss of traditional Tibetan education under Xi Jinping's assimilation campaign.
