DEHRADUN: The Department of Information and International Relations (DIIR), Central Tibetan Administration (CTA), has initiated an 11-day Middle-Way(Umaylam in Tibetan) Approach Awareness Program at the Tibetan Homes School in Mussoorie. The program, which began recently, aims to educate over 170 Class XI students, spanning disciplines such as arts, sciences, and commerce.

Under the guidance of Tibet Advocacy Section staff, Rinchen and Tsetan Dolma, the program’s primary objective is to deepen the understanding of the Middle-Way approach among Tibetan students.

The inaugural session, titled “Defining Umaylam for Me”, encouraged students to reflect on their personal interpretations of Umaylam. By working in groups, students shared their individual and collective feelings about the approach, fostering a space for open dialogue and inquiry.

The next segment, “Delving Deeper and Enhancing Clarity”, provided students with reading materials that explored the historical facets of Middle-Way. They were tasked with assessing Tibet’s current situation, tracing the evolution of Middle-Way and examining the memorandum concerning genuine autonomy. Each group then presented their findings, ensuring a well-rounded understanding of the Middle-Way Approach (MWA).

To further solidify their grasp on the subject, DIIR representatives presented a detailed overview of Umaylam, addressing any lingering questions and ensuring a comprehensive understanding of MWA.

Having concluded the three-day segment at the Tibetan Homes School, the DIIR team is now set to extend the program to the students of TCV School Selakui, continuing their mission to spread awareness and understanding of the Umaylam approach.
