Thousands of Lhasa residents gathered to paint the Potala Palace as part of an annual preservation tradition for the UNESCO site. Coordinated by the palace management and with local support, volunteers prepared a special paint blend of milk, honey, sugar, saffron, and lime. This mixture, designed for its durability, is applied to restore the palace’s iconic white, red, and yellow walls. The project is timed for the ninth month of the Tibetan calendar, following the monsoon season, to ensure optimal preservation of the palace's structure and vibrant appearance.
