Bengaluru: In a recent show of support, the Karnataka state government has greenlighted an increased financial package of Rs 3 crores for the Tibetan settlements spread across the state for the fiscal year 2023-2024. This comes as an increment from the previous allotments of Rs 2 crores each for the fiscal years 2021-2022 and 2022-2023.

As reported by Tibet.net, the official news agency of the Central Tibetan Administration, this additional fund is geared towards multifaceted development across several critical sectors, including education, social welfare, cultural preservation, and tourism, among others. The budget aims to cater to needs such as supporting old people’s homes, renovating destitute houses, promoting environmental conservation, and enhancing youth empowerment initiatives.

The Chief Representative Office of the South Zone, representing the Central Tibetan Administration and the five Tibetan settlements in the state, extended heartfelt gratitude for this notable aid. This acknowledgement reflects the deep-rooted relationship between the local state government and the Tibetan exile community, spanning decades of mutual respect and cooperation. In addition to its appreciation, the office also provided a detailed report on the objectives and intended projects to the state’s Revenue Department.
