One Weibo user from Ningbo, Zhejiang, shared the supermarket ad, prompting over 140 million views and 41,000 discussions. The user’s post questioned the ease of finding a job nowadays, echoing the concerns of many across the country, Reuters reports.

A poignant comment from a 29-year-old on Weibo shared by Reuters illustrates the personal impact of these trends, with the individual facing repeated layoffs and a lack of responses to job applications.

This online outcry reflects broader anxieties about job security and age discrimination in China‘s workforce. As the country grapples with these challenges, the discussion emphasizes the need for inclusive hiring practices and policies to support workers of all ages.
