On the occasion of the 35th birthday of the 11th Kunzig Panchen Rinpoche Jetsun Tenzin Gedhun Yeshi Trinley Phuntsok Pal Sangpo, a special celebration was held at Tsuglagkhang. This event was organized by the Central Tibetan Administration along with Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in exile, according to Tibet.net.

The event saw the participation of notable figures such as Juku-Kalle Raid, Member of the Estonian Parliament and Chair of the Estonian Parliamentary Support Group for Tibet. The celebration was attended by various delegates including Buddhist leaders from the Himalayan region and Ven Zeekgyab Rinpoche, the Abbot of Tashi Lhunpo monastery.

During the event, a jigsaw puzzle featuring the portrait of the 11th Panchen Rinpoche was unveiled, followed by a ceremonial cake cutting. This gathering was not just a birthday celebration but also a platform to voice the continued concern over the Panchen Rinpoche‘s unknown whereabouts for nearly 29 years.

In his keynote speech, Juku-Kalle Raid emphasized the shared past hardships between Estonians and Tibetans and expressed hope for a future of freedom for Tibet. His remarks, reported by Tibet.net, echoed a conversation with His Holiness the Dalai Lama earlier in the day.

The abbot of Tashi Lhunpo monastery emphasized the ongoing efforts to advocate for the freedom of the Panchen Lama, recognized by the Dalai Lama. He highlighted the advocacy campaigns led by the monastery in exile aiming for justice for the long-missing Panchen Rinpoche and Chadrel Rinpoche.

The event was also marked by cultural contributions, including new songs dedicated to Panchen Rinpoche performed by Tibetan singer Tsering Gyurmey and artists from TIPA. A new book by Tibetan scholar Thinley Wangchuk and five publications from Tashi Lhunpo monastery in exile were released during the celebration.

This gathering not only commemorated a birthday but also served as a reminder of the ongoing struggle for the Panchen Lama‘s freedom, a cause deeply supported by the global Tibetan community and international allies like Estonia. As reported by Tibet.net, the community remains hopeful and steadfast in their efforts towards securing his freedom and ensuring a brighter future for Tibet.
