In a significant gathering for Tibetan advocacy, the India Tibet Coordination Office (ITCO) held a meeting with various Tibet Support Groups in Guwahati, Assam, as reported by Tibet.net. The meeting, held on November 25, 2023, aimed to enhance coordination, foster collective collaboration among Tibet Support Groups, and follow up on the action plans from the 7th All India Tibet Support Groups Conference, organized by the Core Group for Tibetan Cause – India (CGTC-I).

Gracing the event were Tibetan Parliamentarians MP Khenpo Jamphal Tenzin and MP Phurpa Dorjee Gyaldhong, who were visiting Northeast India for official purposes. Accompanying them was Tenzin Samten, the Tibetan Settlement Officer in Shillong. The MPs provided a comprehensive overview of the Central Tibetan Administration, its policies, the Middle Way Approach, the current situation of the Tibetan struggle, and its status. They also expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from the Indian government and the Tibet Support Groups, appealing for continued collaboration towards resolving Tibet‘s issues. This was followed by a Q&A interactive session.

Tashi Dekyi from ITCO New Delhi initiated the meeting with a warm welcome and an overview of its purpose. She presented a PowerPoint on various topics, including India-Tibet relations through the ages, facts about independent Tibet, Tibetans in exile, and the current situations in Tibet. Additionally, the declarations and action plans from the 7th All India Tibet Support Groups Conference were discussed, along with strategies to strengthen Tibet Advocacy programs in schools, universities, and think tanks.

During the meeting, discussions focused on reviewing past and current programs of the Tibet Support Groups in Guwahati and upcoming activities aligned with the action plan of the 7th Conference. Members of the Tibet Support Groups shared feedback and suggestions to further the Tibetan movement in India and globally.

The Tibet Support Groups (TSGs) of Guwahati expressed appreciation for the program hosted by ITCO and requested more insightful programs to effectively promote Tibet advocacy and raise mass awareness.

The meeting was attended by over ten members from groups such as Bharat Tibbat Sangh, Bharat Tibbat Samanvay Sangh, Bharat Tibbat Sahyog Manch, and a few individual Tibet supporters. This gathering signifies the continued and growing support for the Tibetan cause in India and highlights the efforts made by various groups to keep the issue at the forefront of international discourse.
