India has responded to China‘s recent claims over Arunachal Pradesh, stating firmly that the region remains an integral part of India, regardless of Beijing’s repeated assertions. According to Business Today, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has reiterated India‘s stance that Arunachal Pradesh will always be a part of India, emphasizing the country’s unwavering position on the issue.

MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, during a weekly press briefing, addressed questions regarding China‘s continued claims on the northeastern state. “China may repeat its baseless claims as many times as they want, that is not going to change our position. Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always remain an integral and inalienable part of India,” Jaiswal stated, as reported by Business Today.

This exchange marks the latest in a series of verbal engagements between India and China over Arunachal Pradesh. India has consistently dismissed China‘s claims as unfounded and absurd, with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar calling them “ludicrous” at an event in Singapore.

The controversy has drawn international attention, with the United States expressing support for India. The US State Department’s Principal Deputy Spokesperson, Vedant Patel, affirmed that the United States recognizes Arunachal Pradesh as Indian territory. Patel emphasized opposition to any attempts to alter territorial claims through military or civilian incursions across the Line of Actual Control.

China‘s attempt to rename areas within Indian territory has also been a point of contention. The Chinese government’s efforts to assign new names to locations within Arunachal Pradesh have been outright rejected by India, asserting that such moves do not change the reality of India‘s sovereignty over the region.

Tensions were further heightened following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Arunachal Pradesh earlier in March to inaugurate the Sela Tunnel. China protested the visit, citing its claim over the area. However, India continues to assert its rights and development initiatives in the region, underscoring the strategic importance of the newly-built tunnel for ensuring all-weather connectivity.

As reported by Business Today, the ongoing dispute over Arunachal Pradesh underscores the complex relationship between India and China, with both nations holding firm to their territorial claims.
