India Bans China’s Global Times X Account Over Fake Military Claims

India has banned the X handles of China’s Global Times and Xinhua for spreading unverified claims about Indian military actions amid tensions with Pakistan. The move followed misleading reports on Operation Sindoor, which included false claims of an Indian jet being shot down—later debunked by India’s fact-checkers. The Indian Embassy in China urged responsible journalism, warning against disinformation. Turkey’s TRT World was also withheld on X for similar reasons. The development coincides with India’s strong rejection of China’s renaming of places in Arunachal Pradesh, calling the attempt “vain and preposterous.”
