Upon addressing the gathering, His Holiness, visibly moved by the majestic Buddha statue overlooking Stok Village, recited a poignant homage to the Buddha, an excerpt from Jé Tsongkhapa’s ‘Song of Experience’. This veneration seamlessly segued into a reflection on the intrinsic human yearning for love and warmth. He elaborated, “The universal experience of maternal love lays the foundation for us to nurture a warm heart and champion the welfare of all sentient beings.”

Stressing religious harmony, His Holiness stated, “As a Buddhist monk, I have the utmost respect for every religious tradition. Our shared goal across doctrines is the propagation of friendship and warm-heartedness.” His remarks also underscored Tibetan Buddhism’s roots in the Nalanda Tradition, which hinges on meticulous analysis and logical reasoning, a method that intrigues even the modern scientific community.

Highlighting the undeniable value of secular principles in today’s society, His Holiness urged the people of the Himalayan region to adopt the teachings of Buddha in their purest, most meaningful form. With a gaze fixed on the snow-laden peaks of Stok, he nostalgically recollected the prayer to Chenrezig, affirming the deep-seated Buddhist heritage of the region.

His Holiness’s address culminated in an earnest affirmation of his unwavering affection for the people of Ladakh. He articulated his desire to frequently visit the region, especially during the monsoon season, when the Indian plains become more humid and wet.
