French Ambassador Visits Tibetan Monasteries in Bylakuppe

French Ambassador to India Thierry Mathou, accompanied by his wife Cécile Mathou and French Consul General in Bengaluru Marc Lamy, visited three Tibetan monasteries in Bylakuppe on July 22, 2026. Jigmey Tsultrim, Chief Representative Officer of the Central Tibetan Administration’s South Zone, hosted and accompanied the delegation throughout the visit. The group visited Sera Jey Monastery, Namdroling Monastery, and Tashi Lhunpo Monastery, where abbots, tulkus, and monastic representatives welcomed them. The visit allowed the French delegation to pay respects and learn about the Tibetan community’s religious, cultural, and spiritual traditions in Bylakuppe.
